WTIV SUDA JG10000T Can Carry the Largest Turbines

  • Post category:wind

A Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) is the single most critical component in the development of the offshore wind farm. As wind turbines become larger, so must the vessels that carry them. Our WTIV design, the SUDA JG10000T is the latest in the SUDA JG Series of vessels, which also includes the JG1000 and JG6000, designed for support of the offshore wind industry. The design will be the most efficient of its kind in terms of cost and installation time.

As with all of our designs, much thought has been given to the design and engineering of the vessel.  Its robust capabilities are hallmarks of all SUDA designs.  Its oversized 2,500 tonne crane allows it to install both turbines and foundations.  The leg-encircling design frees up deck area, allowing for more cargo. The vessel has a small footprint for a large payload.

Designed to be future-proofed, the SUDA JG10000T can carry even the largest wind turbines currently under development, even the 14 MW and 18 MW turbines, with a 33% higher capacity for its size compared to existing WTIVs.  Higher carrying capacity reduces the number of trips needed from port to installation site.

The design uses name-brand, non-proprietary components, reducing operations costs.  Wide scale availability of off-the-shelf parts also reduces down-time for repairs.

The SUDA JG10000T design and its potential benefits have caught the attention of the industry, worldwide.  It has been thoroughly reviewed by many of the major industry players and received their seals of approval.  It has also been featured in many industry publications such as Lloyd’s List, Tradewinds, Recharge, and Marine Link.  Follow the links below to see how the industry has responded to this exciting new design.
